Food Safety

Here at FoodSt we have always taken Food Safety, Hygiene and Regulations seriously. So much so, in fact, that the very first thing we did when came up with the concept was engage Australia's premier Food Law Firm to advise on how we could build a safe, sustainable and food safety compliant system. Over the past two years we have worked in partnership with our legal team and State Regulators to bring FoodSt to life.  Here are three things you may not have known about FoodSt:

1. FoodSt has been reviewed, approved and registered with the NSW Food Authority.

Our firm belief is that Food Safety Regulations exist to protect people...  We are not talking about building a taxi driving service! We are talking about food which has greater implications for public health and safety. Our approach has always been to work in partnership with our Regulators, to find a way to trade home-cooked food safely and compliantly.  As such FoodSt has been built to comply with the Australia and New Zealand Food Standards Code (FSANZ).

2. All FoodSt Cooks must hold a valid Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.

This is not negotiable. This Certification is higher than a standard Food Handler Certificate and is the required level for a Supervisor of Food Safety in a commercial kitchen. This is  the highest form of Certificate you can attain for Food Safety. You can rest assured that all of our cooks are trained at this level.

3. FoodSt provides Public Liability Insurance to all of our Cooks.

We believe in our Cooks and cover all of them under the FoodSt Public Liability Insurance policy.

"A Word on Gluten-Free, Allergen-Free Claims"

Our commitment to Food Safety means that we can not guarantee Gluten-Free, Nut-Free, Egg-Free or Dairy-Free meals. Although selling this type of food would be fantastic for both our business and the largely under served market for allergen free food, we believe that SAFETY comes first.

For those people with severe allergies claiming food is free of a specific allergen for example can be very dangerous - even the slightest trace of nuts, gluten or shellfish could have disastrous health effects. Our stance is simply not to make these claims as a way of protecting both our customers and our cooks.
